Shah Alam Night Run 2017

My first running event for 2017. Somehow I managed to ‘force’ my sister to run with me that night. There were two distances; half marathon (HM) and 10km. Of course we both registered for 10km. I don’t think anyone of us are mentally and physically prepared for HM. 10km will be our further distance for now.

Shah Alam Night Run 2017 or Shah Alam Half Marathon 2017 was held at my favourite running spot, Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam. HM flag off was scheduled at 12 midnight 26th February 2016 and 10km runners will be released at 1am.

So I put my children to sleep, and at 11pm I picked up my sister and drove to the running venue which was like 2 minutes from home? Hahaha yeah. There were many cars parked along the streets and finally we found one good spot to park. To tell you the truth, if I were to walk from home to where I parked my car, I don’t even sweat because it was near home.

We reached flag off (FO) point and HM runners FO at 12.30am. So 10km runners slowly step forward and wait for our FO which was scheduled at 1am. At 12.45am, sudden rain poured on us! We were soaking wet while standing and waiting at FO point. I could not imagine how HM runner ran in heavy rain. Luckily, the rain was heavy and quick. At 1am, we were released to run and thank God it felt good to run in such a cool and windy night.

I tried to run abreast with my sister so that I would not lose her; since this run was her first 10km run. However at 6km, I could not wait any longer. I feel more energised and increased my pace and after a while, I believed I left my sister at the back. Yeah, talking about being a good sister, but hey she is 34 years old this year.

I reached finishing line after about 1 hour 50 minutes run. It was satisfying though, since I have not practised for about 2 months due to my work commitment. Then, met my ex roommate at university, Nuurill after run. I did not remember how long we have not seen each other. Perhaps, more than 5 years? We sat not far from medal collection point and talked and talked while waiting for my sister to arrive. I remember we used to jog every Saturday morning around our university but of course at times I skipped, just to continue my so precious beauty sleep. Hehehe

At about 3am my sister came, she was smiling. Perhaps she saw how chatty we were. Since it was already later, so three of us slowly made a move to our cars. Luckily Nuuril parked her car not far from mine, so we headed to our cars while chatting and complaining about our weight and somehow blame it to the kampung appetite we are having lately.

Before we parted and said goodbye, we pledged to run together, eat right and exercise well to reach 50kg by end of this year (2017).

Larian Kemanusiaan GEMS 2016

 

Ran my last run this year. As usual, with my sister at our favourite running venue; Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam (DKSA). Why do we love this place so much? The reason is DKSA is just a stone away from our houses (we live nearby). In fact, we could actually walk to DKSA to warm up our body before run but hell no, of course we would drive to parking area in our beloved Blue Mosque compound.

Before I went out, I fixed special energy drink of SHAKLEE Performance Drink + Vivix + Cinch Energy Tea Mix mixture plus a few drops of maple syrup for sweet smoky taste to keep me hydrated and energised along the run. Yummy and healthy!

And what happened today was we were actually late for the run! As we walked towards the starting point, we could see people started running. So we waited no more, and started running as fast as we could. Luckily, this time we decided to let our babies sleep longer today at home otherwise, I could not imagine how frantic two late running moms with toddlers and strollers trying to catch up the crowd in front of us. Pheww! He knows better.

So we ran-walked-ran happily, and this time 5km route was different from previous running events! It was actually our daily route to city centre by car, but somehow it felt good enjoying the same scenery by foot.

All I could say, after attending several running events organised by Selangor State, this one is surely the best. Medal, refreshment and certificate collection booths were arranged systematically. There were 2 separate lanes; one for 5km medal and refreshment collection lane and another one was for 12km. There were also unlimited supply of drinking water and isotonic drinks.

Met an ATC fella, lil bro RV after run when I saw his selfie in my FB newsfeed and of course we took picture together.

How running affects my life (Part 3)

 

 

Okay this post will be the last part out of three.

Instead of continue working after 5.30pm just to avoid traffic jam, I kill my time by walking or running around Putrajaya. If DN and I do not feel like running, we would walk and chat. I am lucky that DN is a wise, knowledgeable and respectful lady and I appreciate her advice, be it about life, work, gardening, pets, parenting and health. In a way, I feel like a heavy burden on my shoulder being lift off and I am less stressed nowadays.

I  learn to love and appreciate myself. I learn how to manage my time and to have balance life. My children are the happiest though. I become more flexible (but still strict) mother at home. To my surprise, my children start to share their thoughts with me. Less yelling, more talking at home now. Awesome yeah?

How about my husband my our marriage life? Improved. A lot. It turns out my husband loves to see how I love running and putting my effort into it. He loves watching positive changes in my life and what a better person I am now. Somehow running is a therapy which works well (very well) for me.

How running affects my life (Part 2)

When I first started running, I thought it would be seasonal or just a temporary craze. But no, I realised I was actually into it! The first week I ran, I came home and looking forward to sleeping as soon as possible that I even skipped dinner. I could not even open my eyes when the clock past 9pm. Hahaha this is a confession of running noob here!

Luckily, my husband; being understanding, bought dinner for our children. Of course he bought fried chicken because Adam Dzikri and Aisyah Tihani would never say NO to fried chicken. Ahha, too bad their mommy was drained physically.

After 2 weeks, I noticed that my body started adapting to my running routine. I ran (or walked), yet I still have had some more energy left with me after coming home. I could even cook dinner for my family! Eh, cool yeah?

So I decided to register myself in my very first running event; “Walk for Humanity 2016″and I actually asked my sister to run with me. It so happened that the event was held nearby my house. To my surprise, Shah Alam is considered as favourite running venue other than Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. So I walked-ran-walked-ran a little with my sister, and it felt so good to see some familiar SHAKLEE faces participated in the event too.

I was happy and satisfied at the same time. I told myself, “This is my first run, and definitely won’t be the last one”. I shall write some more, chiao!

How running affects my life (Part 1)

2016 was my adventurous year, I would say. There were a lot of new things I learned and experienced. A year when I decided to slow down and to look back. To reorder my priority in life. I did take sometimes to do it but hey, it’s my life right?

I challenged myself to get active. Since I didn’t know how to play any sports or games, I decided to start with the cheapest and the easiest; by walking.

I started walking near my office after working hours. At first, I walked 5km around the reservoir (a lake, may be?) nearby. It took me exactly 1 hour to complete 1 round. Thanks to my walking buddy DN, she never complained. Instead, DN motivated my by walking even faster, leaving me panting behind. Yes, 5km walk for a non athlete like me was HUGE achievement, okay?

After a while, 5km walk felt easy. Then, I started  running. Err, walk-run-walk-run actually. I did not care about my pace or speed, my concern was how long I took to complete 1 round around the lake because — the earlier I finished, the earlier I could reach home sweet home to see my children.

Haha, simple aite? Afterall, I’m still a mother.

Cara kawal berat badan semasa hamil

Saya dapat banyak permintaan untuk kongsikan cara saya mengawal berat badan semasa hamil. Ikutkan pengalaman, masa pregnantkan Adam Dzikri, berat saya naik 12kg. Mahu menangis juga. Syukur saya berjaya dapatkan berat ideal selepas bersalin. Bukan melalui diet keterlaluan yang memudaratkan saya atau baby, tapi melalui cara pemakanan sihat dan seimbang. Tapi frankly, serik juga. Bukan senang kan nak simply turunkan berat badan. Lagi2 selepas bersalin. Umur pun dah meningkat. Metabolisme pun semakin menurun. Jadi saya berazam sungguh2, sekiranya hamil lagi, saya akan kawal peningkatan berat badan semasa hamil supaya tidak terlalu sukar untuk kurus semula selepas bersalin.

Sebaik sahaja saya tahu saya berbadan dua semula, kali ni saya nekad untuk capai beberapa perkara:
– kawal kenaikan berat badan
– dapatkan bp, hb yang cun
– kawal pemakanan supaya anak kurang/tiada masalah jaundice kelak

Alhamdulillah, ketiga2 impian saya tercapai!

CARA KAWAL BERAT BADAN SEMASA HAMIL

1) Jangan skip waktu makan
2) Tiada istilah eat for two
3) Minum air secukupnya
4) berdisiplin ambil supplement/vitamin untuk ibu hamil
5) Tidur/rehat secukupnya
6) Kekal positif dan aktif
7) Banyakkan berdoa

Hamil anak kedua, Aisyah Tihani berat saya naik cuma 6kg sepanjang kehamilan. Memang seronok sebab nurse di KK tak marah. Malah mengalakkan amalan pemakanan sihat serta meneruskan pengambilan supplement semasa hamil. Apa tidaknya, tekanan darah cantik, Hb sentiasa bagus dan berta badan terkawal. Rahsianya tentulah set hamil Shaklee. Tak miss sepanjang pregnancy.

Apabila kandungan saya menjengah bulan ke 4, saya tambahkan kapsul minyak ikan Shaklee yang dikenali sebagai Omegaguard. Ia bagus untuk perkembangan otak bayi dalam kandungan. Bonus pointnya, berat badan saya terkawal. Syukur sangat. Selain mudah untuk mendapatkan semua berat ideal selepas bersalin, risiko untuk mendapat diabetes semasa hamil juga berkurang. Alhamdulillah.
